The autobiographic story follows Kentarou Okamoto who leaves Tokyo and moves to Okayama Prefecture to become a hunter. Using air rifle and traps, he hunts, prepares and eats various animals. The story also tells about survival techniques Okamoto used when he got lost in the mountains.
