The 16-year-old high school student Daichi Kakeru never had a girlfriend before. But one day, when, after buying a can of melon juice soda, his lips touch the can, it transforms into the attractive human girl, Melon. To complicate things further, more akikan girls begin appearing, each of them needing to be infused with carbon dioxide from kissing to survive. Apparently all this is part of a secret government project... not that any of this reduces Kakeru's bewilderment. Note: Akikan means empty can in Japanese. The first episode received an advance release on Bandai Channel on 22 December 2008. The regular TV broadcast started on 4 January 2009
