Love’s Root, Cut Away N/A
Tongyu is the last Divine Parasol Tree (Wutong) in these Six Realms of Heaven and Earth. Its emerald green leaves are the highest-grade immortal medicine, and the nine merged branches form the Demon-Slaying Celestial Blade.
He possesses a beautiful countenance and an exquisite figure.
He is extremely aloof, forsaking all emotional ties.
This is the common appraisal by most of the world’s inhabitants.
In reality, only the select few who truly know him are aware that:
He is actually tough on the outside but soft on the inside, and incomparably adorable.
He originally intended to abandon his roots of emotion to protect the common people of the Six Realms, but alas, the karmic debts of countless lives are hard to erase. He is bound through numerous lifetimes with him, the half-god, half-demon, and it is difficult to distinguish whether he owes him more, or if he has failed him more.
“I am shameless, and you are ‘unfeeling’; we happen to make a perfect match.” Having lived through many lifetimes, he has uttered a heap of harsh words and countless words of love, but this particular sentence is what he finds most unforgettable.
Yet, what he doesn’t know is that the other person had another sentence he wanted to say but never got the chance to: “Sky-cyan (Tianqing) is the color of the firmament, and moon-white (Yuebai) is the shade of the moon’s shadow. Therefore, Yu Tianqing and Shi Yuebai are a match made in heaven.”
The story is about the cumulative lifetime entanglements of an aloof, “‘unfeeling’” beauty (Shou/Uke) and a romantic, “‘shameless,’” dark-bellied attacker (Gong/Seme). They are “mortal enemies”, yet also lovers.
