Tsuki to Laika to Nosferatu
* Based on a science fantasy light novel series written by Makino Keisuke and illustrated by Karei.
In the aftermath of World War II, the world was divided between two major superpowers: the Zirnitra Union in the East and the United Kingdom of Arnack in the West. With their Earth borders set, both superpowers looked to space as the next frontier for expansion, sparking a space race. In 1957, the Union succeeded in sending a dog to outer space. Since then, the space race only intensified, and in 1960 the Union announced a plan to launch manned missions into the final frontier. To that end, it established the isolated city of Laika 44, where cosmonaut candidates would train for those missions and scientists would develop the technology to make them happen, all in complete secrecy.
However, due to the differences between dogs and humans, there was no way to perfectly identify the risks for people who undergo space travel. As such, the Union's government decided to first send vampires, whose biological similarity to humans is much more significant. In that environment, the young cosmonaut candidate Lev Leps was assigned as the overseer of vampire and test subject Irina Luminesk and charged with ensuring her training goes smoothly.
